Majjiga Pulusu




A Traditional south Indian meal ends with curd. I am a huge fan of Curd. I feel an incomplete meal without curd or buttermilk. This post is a tasty and quick end of meal :), Called as Majjiga pulusu. Butter milk is called majjiga in telugu (my mother tongue). Apart from its taste, buttermilk helps in aiding digestion, prevents vitamin deficiency and brings about a drop in cholesterol. try it out!

Preparation time – 10 mins
Cooking time – 15 mins

Ingredients:

Besan – 4 Tbsp
Yogurt – 2 cups.
Water – 2 cups
Green Chillies – 20 or to taste
Ginger – 1 inch piece.
Coriander leaves – few
Curry Leaves – few
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Red Chilli Whole – 1 or 2
lady finger – 10 cut into pieces
Oil – 4 tsp
Tomatoes (chopped) – 1 no
Water – 2 cups or according to your taste.

Procedure :


  1. Whisk yogurt and Chikpea flour together without any lumps in a bowl.
  2. In a sauce pan add oil, when it is hot add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli whole, turmeric powder, curry leaves.
  3. Add onions and pinch of salt, cover and cook the them till onions are cooked.
  4. Prepare ginger, green chilli and coriander paste and keep aside.
  5. Add water and bring the mixture to a boil and cook the ladyfingers.
  6. Add the prepared paste to the boiled water and ladyfingers too.
  7. Add the yogurt and chickpea flour mixture add the salt and lower the heat and bring the entire mixture to a complete boil and turn off the heat.
  8. Garnish with the chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Add some water and bring it to boil.

There you go...!!!! Serve it hot with steaming rice or roti.
